Product Description:

Dave Baranek, known by his callsign "Bio," was among 451 young men awarded their Wings of Gold as naval flight officers in 1980. Four years later, having undergone rigorous training and deployments during the tense Cold War era, he distinguished himself as the sole member of that initial group to become an instructor at the Navy’s prestigious Fighter Weapons School. As a Topgun instructor, Bio was responsible for elevating the skills of the Navy and Marine Corps’ top fighter pilots, both through classroom instruction and challenging aerial combat exercises. In August 1985, Bio’s role expanded to include participation in a Pentagon-approved project to capture authentic flight scenes for a major Hollywood film depicting the lives, struggles, and successes of young Top Gun fighter pilots. His experiences led to appearances at glamorous premieres and recognition from enthusiastic fans. The book concludes with Bio’s reflections on his distinguished naval aviation career and enduring passion for flying. The paperback and Kindle editions feature over fifty rare full-color photographs showcasing fighter jets in action.
